What is Catalanotto Academy?

The Catalanotto Academy is our training program. Our partners take an initial training course before opening their first shop and ongoing apprenticeship during their business journey, together with marketing and commercial support.

Our affiliation process includes a training path with qualified technicians and trainers to learn our working method and philosophy based on the 3 C of Catalanotto: Consulting, Collection and Convenience.

This educational path is essential for sharing our know-how with the partner, starting from our operating manual of the Catalanotto Optics Franchise.

Our training permits our affiliated to consolidate and make the technical knowledge acquired in their studies more practical. Moreover, it is an immersion into a practical context that becomes fundamental for the business's success.

Once the optics store is open, our company will keep assisting the affiliate with our business model, which can make the optics centre work better.

Ongoing Professional Development

In the modern world, professional opticians must be able to combine technological tools with ancient traditional practices to be reliable advisors when proposing solutions to customers.

Today the role of the optician has evolved from the traditional manual construction of glasses and lenses to purely digital works conducted with advanced technology.

The optics market is constantly evolving. Manufacturers continually launch new products with new technological materials, making this sector among the most innovative and prone to changes.

Our formula provides ongoing training paths that offer a means to grow and refresh knowledge and know-how. We cover the market's most trendy topics and innovations, with regular meetings organised in virtual classes with the help of distance learning platforms and online classrooms.

Our learning sessions give direct access to content with the support of a virtual speaker that follows each session.

What Are the Professional Figures in an
Optics Store?

Today there are two professional figures: the optician and the optometrist.

The optician is responsible for technically assisting the customer in selecting frames and ophthalmic lenses based on the client's physical characteristics, profession, and habits. It is a figure dedicated to processing lenses and frames to ensure the best visual support for the user. The optician is a licensed professional with competencies in ophthalmology. The optician's skills are constantly evolving and range from the creation of aids, such as glasses and optical systems, to the visual examination of a person.

In line with Federottica's definition, the optometrist is a healthcare professional dedicated to eye care and eyesight. He has expertise in ophthalmic optics, physics applied to optics, physiology, and perception. Moreover, he is competent in examining visual deficiencies and the applications of materials and tools for correcting visual function dysfunctions, such as myopia, presbyopia, astigmatism and hyperopia.

Many opticians are also optometrists. Optometry extends the optician's scope. Indeed, the optometrist can diagnose and treat specific eye conditions and anomalies.

However, the role of an optics store is not limited to these essential and delicate activities.

Our professionals are in charge of performing several equally essential tasks to ensure total customer satisfaction, such as:

     1. Guide the customers in choosing their eyeglass frame by offering advice in finding the right combination between their anatomical characteristics and tastes.

     2. Offer a wide choice of fashionable brands and the most suitable lenses.

     3. Inform the customer about the use and proper maintenance techniques for the supplied optical aids, whether they are eyeglasses or contact lenses.

In addition, administrative skills, knowledge of the current regulations on certificates, the discipline of work, cash management, and logistics of orders are required.
